Why Tick Control Services Can’t Wait

Ticks pose some of the greatest threats to your comfort and safety at home or work. A bite from an infected tick can transmit:
  • Lyme Disease: The most common tick-borne illness in Massachusetts, causing fatigue, joint pain, and long-term complications if untreated.
  • Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever: A fast-moving bacterial infection requiring prompt medical treatment.
Massachusetts families need a pest control team they can trust to eradicate the issue. Greenhow is your premier provider of tick control solutions in the region.

OUR TICK CONTROL SOLUTIONS

Our highly trained pest control technicians take a deeply methodical approach to tick removal. Depending on the type of infestation, we’ll apply a different tactic to ensure the best results:

Our 3-Step Tick Control Process

Our highly trained technicians take a methodical approach to tick removal. Every treatment follows these three steps:
  • Step 1: Habitat Reduction:  We reduce tick habitat by keeping lawn edges clear and removing woodpiles around your yard. These simple changes cut off the environments ticks rely on to survive.
  • Step 2: Vegetation Treatment: Our team treats vegetation and leaf litter with a pesticide labeled to kill ticks, preventing them from questing on your property.
  • Step 3: Rodent Treatment with Tick Tubes: We treat rodents around your home with tick tubes to prevent them from carrying ticks onto your property. Tick tubes contain treated nesting material that field mice and chipmunks naturally use, treating themselves and reducing the tick population at the source.

Ongoing Tick Prevention Plans

Tick removal often requires ongoing treatment for total eradication. We offer flexible plans based on your property’s needs:

Tick Only Plan

The standard service cycle for tick control. This plan includes treatments in early spring, late spring, late summer, and early fall, targeting tick habitat at each key point in the season.

Monthly Plan

Best for properties experiencing high tick volumes. Service runs from as early as March through November. Spring and fall visits focus on tick habitat treatment, making this plan the most comprehensive option for heavily wooded or high-pressure yards.

Supplemental Services

Applied once in spring and once in summer, tick tubes contain treated nesting material. Rodents like field mice and chipmunks use the material and treat themselves, reducing the number of ticks near your structure and yard. Tick tubes are an excellent add-on to any plan.

We will recommend the right plan after a thorough inspection and your first round of treatment. See our pricing options here

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Contact us or refer to our FAQ.

Is it safe for pets and children?
Yes. Greenhow only uses materials that are safe for you, your family, and your pets.
Is it safe for garden plants?
All vegetation treatments are designed to protect garden plants from pests without causing harm.
How often do I need tick treatment for best results?
We make personalized recommendations based on the severity of your infestation, property type, and environment. Consult with your Greenhow professional to determine the right plan for your situation.
When is tick season in Massachusetts?
Tick season in Massachusetts runs from early spring through late fall. Deer ticks remain active whenever temperatures stay above 35°F, which can mean activity on mild winter days. The highest-risk periods are April through June and again in September and October.
Do ticks die in winter in Massachusetts?
Not reliably. Studies show only about 20% of the tick population dies off during winter. Deer ticks in particular stay active in cold temperatures. That is why early spring tick control treatment is so important.
What does a tick bite look like?
Tick bites can cause a small red bump at the site. If you notice a bullseye-shaped rash around the bite, contact a medical professional immediately, as this can be a sign of Lyme Disease. The faster you treat, the better the outcome.
