Greenhow Inc., a Massachusetts corporation (hereinafter “Greenhow”) is committed to protecting your privacy and has adopted the following Website Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) governing our policies related to your use of our Platform (as defined below). Throughout this Privacy Policy, the words “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Greenhow and its directors, employees and affiliates. By accessing or using our Web site at: www.greenhow.com (the “Site”) or any of our mobile applications (collectively with the Site, the “Platform”) on any computer, mobile phone, tablet, console or other device, purchasing any products or services through our Platform or creating an account or otherwise registering with our Platform, you signify that you have read, understand and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. We may modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Your continued use of our Platform, and/or your purchase of products or services from our Platform, constitutes your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and any updates. This Privacy Policy applies exclusively to our Platform and not to any Web sites which may be linked to our Platform.  The materials and Web sites referenced and/or linked from our Web site are provided for information purposes only. The linked sites are not under our control, and we do not assume any responsibility or liability for any communication or materials available at such linked sites. You should review the privacy policies and terms of use associated with those linked sites if you decide to access them.  Any reference to a commercial or noncommercial product, process, service or company is not an endorsement or recommendation by Greenhow, nor a guarantee of the reliability of the information or product.

Collection of Your Personal Information

When you use our Platform, Greenhow collects information about you.  This includes information that identifies you or can be used to identify you (“Personal Information”).  You may voluntarily provide certain Personal Information to us in order to use certain features available on the Site.  These may include: (a) creating a client account through our “My Account” page; (b) paying or our services; (c) entering into a service contract with us; (d)  applying for employment with us;  and/or (e) sending us a message through our “Contact Us” page or through your account.  In connection with your use of our Platform, we may ask you to provide Personal Information, such as your e-mail address, name, home or work address, or telephone number. If you choose to make a purchase or sign up for an account on our “My Account page, we may ask for additional information, such as your credit card number and billing address, which is used to create a billing account.  In order to access some of our services, you may be asked to sign in with a username and password. If you access our services via a mobile phone, you may also use your telephone number and a PIN as an alternative credential to your username and password. As part of creating your credentials, you may also be requested to provide questions and secret answers, which we use to help verify your identity and assist in resetting your password, as well as an alternate e-mail address.

We also automatically collect certain information, including Personal Information, about you when you interact with our Site. For example, we may use Web site analytics tools on our Site to retrieve information from your browser, including the Web site you came from, the search engine and the keywords you used to find our Site, the pages you view within our Site, your browser add-ons, and your browser’s width and height. We may also use technologies, such as cookies and web beacons (described below), to collect information about the pages you view, the links you click and other actions you take on our Site. Additionally, we collect certain standard information that your browser sends to every Web site you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and language, access times and referring Web site addresses.

Use of Your Personal Information

Greenhow collects and uses your Personal Information to operate and improve its Platform, its products and services.  These uses may include providing you with more effective service; making the Platform or services easier to use; performing research and analysis aimed at improving our products, services, communications and technologies; and displaying content that is customized to your interests and preferences.

We also use your Personal Information to communicate with you. We may send certain service communications such as information on technical service issues, information about our investigational products, programs, and business and security announcements.

Greenhow may also use your Personal Information to inform you of other activities of Greenhow and its affiliates and partners, process employment applications, respond to your inquiries and requests including performance of our services for your benefit, investigate and respond to misuse of our Site, and comply with applicable regulatory and legal requirements, judicial process and Greenhow policies.

We may combine information you give us with other information from our sources, transactions and communications. This may include, but is not limited to, information from direct mail, events, products and applications, or other interactions you have with Greenhow (for example, by telephone or in person).  We may also combine that information with data that is publicly available and data from third parties.  In addition, we may aggregate and/or de-identify the Personal Information we collect to create information that does not identify any individual and use that information for the above-listed purposes and other business purposes.

Sharing Information with Third Parties

Greenhow does not rent, lease, sell or exchange Personal Information with other organizations.

Greenhow may, however, share Personal Information with service providers to help perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, host our Site, respond to communications you send to us, provide customer support, process transactions (including credit card processing and shipping), or perform market analysis of the use of our Platform, products and services and in connection with our data and promotions management. Those service providers will be permitted to obtain only the Personal Information they need to deliver the service. They are required to maintain the confidentiality of the information and are prohibited from using it for any other purpose. However, for credit card processing, our fraud detection vendors may use aggregate data to help improve their service. This helps them more accurately detect fraudulent uses of credit cards.

Greenhow may disclose your Personal Information, without notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Greenhow; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Greenhow; (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Site, or the public; and/or (d) assist in fraud protection or investigation.

We may also share Personal Information we collect or create in connection with a purchase, transfer, or sale of Greenhow or its assets, such as in a merger or corporate reorganization.  If this occurs, the Personal Information will be subject to the policies of the receiving organization.

 Security of Your Personal Information

We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your Personal Information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, like other companies, Greenhow cannot guarantee the security or confidentiality of the Personal Information you provide to us.  As a result, while we strive to protect your Personal Information, you acknowledge that: (a) there are security and privacy limitations inherent in the Internet which are beyond our control and (b) security, integrity, and privacy of any and all information and data exchanged between you and us through our Platform cannot be guaranteed.

How Long We Keep Your Personal Information

We retain your Personal Information in accordance with our business needs and for legal, regulatory, audit and tax requirements for as long as allowed by United States law. After this period the Personal Information relating to your use of our Platform will be deleted; however, any Personal Information which you have provided to us for receiving information, newsletters and event invitations will be kept until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information.

Use of Cookies

Our Site may use “cookies” to enable or help you to sign in to our services and to help personalize your online experience. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies contain information that can later be read by a Web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.

When you sign in to the Site using your personalized credentials, we store your unique ID number, and the time you signed in, in an encrypted cookie on your hard disk. This cookie allows you to move from page to page at the site without having to sign in again on each page.

You may have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer.

If you choose to accept cookies, your browser may give you the ability to later delete cookies that you have accepted. If you choose to delete cookies, any settings and preferences controlled by those cookies will be deleted and may need to be recreated.

Use of Web Beacons

The Site may contain electronic images known as Web beacons – sometimes called single-pixel gifs – that may be used to assist in delivering cookies and allow us to count users who have visited pages on the Site. We may also include Web beacons in e-mail messages in order to determine whether messages have been opened and acted upon.

We may also employ Web beacons from third parties in order to help us compile aggregated statistics regarding the effectiveness of our fundraising campaigns or other operation of our Site.

Finally, we may work with other companies that place links or other content on our Site that include Web beacons on their Web sites in order to allow us to develop statistics on how often clicking on a third-party’s content on our Site results in action on the third-party’s Web site.

Children Under Thirteen

The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13.  Greenhow does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of thirteen through our Site.   If we learn that we have collected Personal Information directly from a child under the age of 13 through the Site, we will delete that information.

Email Communications

From time to time, Greenhow may contact you via email for the purposes of responding to your communications to us, performing our services and/or providing announcements, updates, alerts, confirmations, surveys, and/or general communication, if you have given us your email address.

If you would like to stop receiving email from Greenhow, you may opt out of such communications by clicking “Unsubscribe from this list” at the bottom of the email.

You have the right:

  • not to receive discriminatory treatment by Greenhow for the exercise of privacy rights conferred by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR);
  • to change the Personal Information you have provided to us;
  • to request that Greenhow delete Personal Information that we have collected about you or that you have submitted to us;
  • to designate an authorized agent to make a request under CCPA or GDPR on your behalf;
  • to request that Greenhow not share your Personal Information with others;
  • to request that Greenhow not send you information about products and services.

Transfer/Suppression/Deletion of Personal Information

If you would like Greenhow to disclose, delete, transfer, or suppress sharing your Personal Information, or stop sending you information, please contact us by writing to us via mail or e-mail at our address listed below under the “Contact Information” section of this Privacy Policy.

In your request, please make clear what Personal Information you would like to have transferred, suppressed, or deleted or otherwise let us know what limitations you would like to put on our use of your Personal Information.  For your protection, we may only implement requests with respect to the Personal Information associated with the specific email address that you use to send us your request, and we may need to verify your identity before implementing your request.  We will comply with your request as soon as reasonably practicable.

You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf if you provide the authorized agent with written permission to do so.  Before complying with a request from an agent, we may require that you verify your own identity directly with us.  We may deny a request from an agent that does not submit proof that they have been authorized by you to act on your behalf.

Please note that we may need to retain certain information for record-keeping purposes.  There may also be residual information that will remain within our databases and other records, which will not be removed.

Changes to This Statement

Greenhow reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time with changes effective as of the date indicated on the updated policy. Your continued use of our Platform after we have made such modifications will constitute your: (a) acknowledgment of the modified Privacy Policy; and (b) agreement to abide and be bound by our modified Privacy Policy.
