Termites cause over $5 billion in property damage across the United States every year. These wood-destroying insects silently feed on your home’s structural members, often for years before homeowners discover the problem.

Unlike other pest damage, termite destruction threatens your home’s structural integrity. Floor joists, wall studs, support beams, and foundation timbers can all be compromised, leading to sagging floors, cracked walls, and costly repairs that homeowners insurance typically won’t cover.
Eastern subterranean termites—the species found throughout Cape Cod—live in underground colonies containing hundreds of thousands of individuals. By the time you notice mud tubes, discarded wings, or hollow-sounding wood, significant damage may have already occurred.
You may have considered treating termites yourself with store-bought products or online DIY methods.
While these approaches might seem cost-effective initially, they rarely eliminate entire termite colonies. In fact, DIY treatments often push termites into harder-to-reach areas of your home, making professional treatment more difficult and expensive later.

Don’t risk your home’s structural integrity and value by attempting to eliminate termites yourself. Instead, call GreenHow Pest Control. Our licensed technicians will thoroughly inspect your property and provide you with all the information you need to make an intelligent decision about protecting your home from termite damage.

Why You Need Termite Control in Cape Cod

High Coastal Humidity

Cape Cod's ocean breezes maintain 60-80% humidity year-round, creating ideal conditions for Eastern subterranean termites to thrive and multiply.

Mild Winter Temperatures

The ocean moderates Cape Cod's winters, preventing the extreme cold that kills termite colonies inland. Termites stay active 8-10 months per year here.

Sandy Coastal Soil

Cape Cod's loose, sandy soil allows termites to excavate tunnels quickly and expand colonies faster than in areas with dense, clay-heavy soil.

Older Coastal Homes

Many Cape Cod properties were built before modern termite prevention methods became standard, leaving them vulnerable to wood-to-soil contact and infestation.

Hidden Structural Damage

Termites feed on wood from the inside out, causing thousands of dollars in damage to floor joists, wall studs, and foundations before visible signs appear.

Year-round Termite Pressure

Unlike inland Massachusetts, Cape Cod's favorable climate means termites pose a threat every season, requiring professional monitoring and protection.

Your Cape Cod home should be a safe, comfortable place, but termites can threaten its structural integrity. Eastern subterranean termites thrive in the Cape’s humid coastal climate, feeding on wooden structures and causing costly damage before most homeowners even notice them.

Cape Cod’s high humidity and mild winters create ideal conditions for termite colonies to grow and stay active year-round. Whether you’ve spotted mud tubes on your foundation, found discarded termite wings, or suspect hidden damage, GreenHow can help.

We will thoroughly inspect your property to determine if termites are present and assess any damage they’ve caused. We will then provide you with all pertinent information and propose a treatment plan, allowing you to make an informed decision about protecting your home.
