Although Hudson was initially founded in 1650, the growing village was officially incorporated in 1866 as a factory town. Over the years, Hudson quickly became famous for its shoe production, with 17 total factories powered by the neighboring Assabet River. 

Today, Hudson remains a quaint town that is great for families with excellent public schools. The town also has a dedicated Historic District, which stretches from Lincoln Street to South Street Extension, crossing into the Assabet River and Bruce Pond. Although little is known about the town’s history, residents and visitors alike can take a walking tour to learn about Hudson’s role in industrial factories and how the town was laid out in the very beginning.
