Harvard is a gorgeous town with a unique history: In its past, Harvard was home to several organizations, like the Harvard Shaker Village, the utopian yet experimental Fruitlands transcendentalism center, and St. Benedict Abbey.
Fruitlands was experimental because it was a small community to live off the fruits of the land, but unfortunately, the village only lasted seven years. Still, it was a temporary home to famous literary authors like Louisa May Alcott, Henry David Thoreau, and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Today, Harvard is an affluent town with excellent public schools. It’s mostly enclosed by rolling hills and wetlands, making beautiful scenery for parks, orchards, and riding stables throughout the town. However, living close to wetlands like Bare Hill Pond can bring unwanted pests like mosquitoes and rodents around Harvard residents’ homes.
