Mice entering homes in the fall.
This photo of a mouse in the mulch illustrates how well their brown and grey fur acts a camouflage to hide them in the environment. As temperatures cool off, the heat escaping your home or business will bring all the smells of people and food outside as air leaks out. Rodents have a great sense of smell and will follow their noses right to the leaking air, normally a crack, seam or gap in the exterior skin of the building. If the opening is smaller than a dime, a mouse may chew it to a larger size, or for a rat, if smaller than a quarter.
