Mice entering homes in the fall.
Can you spot the mouse in this photo? This photo shows a mouse in the mulch outside a home in the Boston area. This was taken in Belmont, Massachusetts. This photo illustrates how well their brown and grey fur acts as camouflage to hide them in the environment. As temperatures cool off, the heat escaping your home or business will bring all the smells of people and food outside as air leaks out. Rodents have a great sense of smell and will follow their noses right to the leaking air, normally a crack, seam, or gap in the exterior skin of the building. If the opening is smaller than a dime, a mouse may chew it to a larger size, or for a rat, if smaller than a quarter.
