Catch more mice quickly with a few tips to setting traps effectively. Setting mouse traps is pretty straightforward. Simply place the trap bar under the arm bar and latch the arm bar under the trigger. Many traps have a F for Firm or S for Soft setting. Try to use the S or Soft setting to make sure even small light mice will trigger the traps.
Place bait in the bait cup, and use as small amount as possible so the rodent will get involved in the trigger to get the bait. The best bait is the food the rodents are eating. In the case of dry dog food, place the dog food between two traps to get the rodent on the way to the food. Nesting materials like tissue, cotton balls and dental floss are very effective for trapping mice.

Use traps in pairs, or threes, always against the wall or runway. Mice don’t see well and use their vibrissae or whiskers to feel guide along edges and investigate new objects. Place traps under appliances or in a box or paper bag so the space is comfortable for a mouse. If you have trouble catching a mouse, place the traps baited and unset for several days or use unset traps on either side of a set trap. In a narrow space, use a pair of traps placed back to back so the triggers are facing out no matter which way the rodent approaches.
